Gentle and Pain Free Pediatric Dentistry in Motor City, Dubai

We are committed to deliver gentle, pain- and stress-free dental treatments, optionally with nitrous oxide sedation (laughing gas) for complete comfort.

Our specialist is dedicated to creating a positive, fun, and educational dental environment for kids. She specializes in a range of treatments from fillings to extractions and works with nitrous oxide, to help elevate dental fear in our pediatric dental clinic in Dubai.

Our goal is to detect any problem early and to deal with it when it’s still small. This method helps children get positive experiences at the dentist and will make them comfortable and at ease both long and short term.

We dedicate time to make sure that children develop a connection with their dentist –  we are equipped with toys and the child can choose what to watch on the TV, while they are being treated.

We know how important it is to not disturb a child with changes of space once they are comfortable – so we have panoramic x-ray, intraoral scanning, 3D CT scanning and much more, in house.

We are a one-stop clinic and are here for our little patients. Whether they need a check-up, filling, tooth extraction or orthodontic treatment it’s all available at our clinic.

What is Pediatric Dentistry?

Pediatric dentistry, also spelled “paediatric dentistry” in British English, is a specialized field of dentistry that focuses on the oral health and dental care of:

  • infants
  • children
  • teenagers
  • individuals with special healthcare needs

Pediatric dentists provide comprehensive dental care, including:

  • Teeth cleaning
  • Fluoride treatments (to treat sensitivity)
  • Fillings
  • Root canal treatments
  • Treatments with dental crown
  • Treatment of gum disease
  • Tooth extraction

They provide education for the parents and the children on proper oral hygiene habits. Pediatric dentists also work closely with other healthcare professionals to address issues related to dental development, growth, and overall health in children.

The goal of pediatric dentistry is to promote good oral health habits early in life, prevent dental problems, and ensure a lifetime of healthy smiles.

    Frequently asked questions

In pediatric dentistry, a variety of services are provided to address the unique dental needs of children, infants, and teenagers. These services include:

    1. Preventive care: Pediatric dentists focus on preventing dental problems before they occur. This includes regular dental check-ups, cleanings, fluoride treatments, and protective coatings on the chewing surfaces of teeth to prevent cavities (known as dental sealants).

    1. Diagnosis and treatment of dental problems: Pediatric dentists diagnose and treat common dental issues in children, such as cavities, gum disease, and tooth decay. They may also provide treatments like fillings, root canals, and extractions as needed.

    1. Monitoring dental development: Pediatric dentists monitor the growth and development of children’s teeth and jaws to ensure proper alignment and function. They may recommend orthodontic treatment if issues like misalignment or bite problems are detected.

    1. Education and counseling: Pediatric dentists educate children and their parents about the importance of good oral hygiene habits, including proper brushing and flossing techniques, diet and nutrition advice, and the importance of regular dental check-ups.

    1. Specialized care for children with special needs: Pediatric dentists are trained to provide specialized dental care for children with special healthcare needs, such as those with developmental disabilities, medical conditions, or anxiety about dental visits.

Overall, pediatric dentistry focuses on promoting good oral health habits early in life, preventing dental problems, and ensuring children have healthy smiles as they grow.

The goals of pediatric dentistry are to prevent dental issues, detect dental problems early, educate on dental hygiene, manage dental growth and development, provide treatment for dental injuries and diseases, and create a positive dental experience for children.

Family dentistry and pediatric dentistry differ primarily in their patient focus and specialization:

Pediatric Dentistry: is specialized in dental care for children from infancy through adolescence, including those with special health care needs. Pediatric dentists undergo additional training in child psychology, growth, and development, which equips them to handle the unique dental issues and behavioral needs of children.

Family Dentistry: provides dental care for patients of all ages, from children to adults. Family dentists offer a wide range of dental services to accommodate the general dental needs of an entire family, making it convenient for households to receive comprehensive dental care in one place.

While both can provide dental care for children, pediatric dentists are specially trained to address the specific needs of young patients.

Yes, a 3-year-old should go to the dentist. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children see a dentist by their first birthday or within six months after their first tooth appears, whichever comes first. Regular dental visits from a young age help in the early detection and treatment of potential dental issues, establish good oral hygiene habits, and acclimate children to the dental office environment, reducing anxiety about dental visits in the future.

Pediatric dental care, incl. dental cleaning typically starts from the age of 1 and continues up to the age of 18. Dental cleanings in a pediatric context should start as early as age 1, following the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry’s recommendation for a child’s first dental visit. Regular cleanings should continue throughout childhood and adolescence.

Pediatric dentists specialize in the dental care of children, from infancy through the teen years. They are trained to address the unique dental needs and conditions of young patients. While their expertise is focused on children, in some cases, they might treat adults with special needs who require the gentle approach and specialized knowledge that a pediatric dentist offers. However, for typical adult dental care, it is recommended to see a general dentist or a dental specialist suited to adult oral health needs.

We are a family friendly clinic treating both children and adults, to take care of all your dental needs in one place.

Yes, pediatric dentists are trained to diagnose conditions in the oral cavity that affect children, including tongue tie (ankyloglossia). It’s a condition they commonly look out for during dental examinations, as it can affect a child’s oral development, speech, and feeding abilities. If a pediatric dentist suspects a tongue tie, they may refer the child to a specialist, such as an ENT (ear, nose, and throat doctor) or a pediatric surgeon, for further evaluation or treatment.

Patients can typically see a pediatric dentist for their dental care until they are ready to transition to a general dentist. This transition often occurs between the ages of 16 and 18, when patients are nearing adulthood and their dental needs may align more closely with adult dental care.

Our dentist has training in basic orthodontic procedures and can manage simple orthodontic issues. However, for more specialized or complex orthodontic needs, we have an in-house orthodontist who can provide comprehensive care tailored to each patient’s requirements. They work together to manage a child’s oral health and development.

An orthodontist is a specialist in diagnosing, preventing, and treating dental and facial irregularities, and has completed additional years of training specifically focused on orthodontics after dental school.

It’s recommended to take your child to a pediatric dentist by their first birthday or when their first tooth emerges, whichever comes first. This early visit helps establish a dental home for the baby, allows the dentist to check for any early issues, and gives parents the chance to learn about proper oral care for their child’s teeth.

Kids can go to any dentist who is equipped to treat children, but a pediatric dentist is often the best choice because they specialize in the dental needs of children and are trained to manage their behavior, make them feel comfortable, and provide care suited to their specific developmental stages. General dentists can also treat children, especially if they’re comfortable with pediatric patients and have experience in providing child-friendly dental care.

Yes, kids can eat before visiting the dentist, but it’s recommended to avoid feeding them heavy meals or snacks right before the appointment. Opt for light, nutritious foods and avoid sticky, sugary snacks that can cling to teeth. It’s also a good idea to have them brush their teeth after eating and before the dental visit to keep their mouth clean and make the examination easier. If your child is going to have a procedure done that requires anesthesia, the dentist might provide specific instructions regarding eating and drinking beforehand.

There is no right “recipe” for choosing a dentist for a child, but here are some tips, that can help:

    1. When looking for a pediatric dentist, find someone who has the right training and/or lots of experience with kids.
    2. The dentist’s office should feel welcoming and should be child-friendly, with things to keep them busy while they wait.
    3. It’s important that the dentist knows how to talk to children in a way that makes them comfortable but also can explain things clearly to parents.
    4. See how the dentist interacts with the child.
    5. Ask other parents for recommendations and see if the dentist potentially has good reviews.
    6. Lastly, make sure that the dentist’ schedule and location suits you.
